ReplyGo to Amazon.com’s books. Do a search for web design books. You do NOT need to buy the brand new ones. I get great Used books there. Just bought an Adobe Flash book on Layers for CS-3 and it cost a little over $6 for the book. Shipping extra, You learn more by reading and doing. Get some free templates and play with them in an HTML editor. Lots of free editors.

A reasonably intelligent person should be able to do so. In fact, because technology changes so much, even someone who has a degree in a tech-related field must often learn much of what she needs to do by reading books.
I have found the “_______ Bible” and the “________: The Missing Manual” series of books to be reasonably straightforward to learn from. Many people also find the “Head First _____”, “_______ for Dummies”, and the “Teach Yourself _________ in 24 Hours” series to be quite easy to learn from, though those don’t usually contain the same depth of information as the first two I mentioned.

google on the web for web design awards to help getting an idea about the state of art, before being able to technically make a website, it’s very important to get to know what’s new and what’s being made around lately.
Then you can look for web tutorials, depending on which programs you want to work with.
I mostly use those:
Photoshop for image editing and making layouts
Fireworks for menus and layouts
Flash for animations, video players, and interactive stuff.
Dreamweaver to put everything together
But it’s important to get to know how to work with html, javascript, CSS and PHP.
ReplyYou can learn about website design by reading books and web articles. You will need to practice it on your computer or on a server of some kind to be proficient though. You do not need to go to school to learn website design. However, if you are looking into website design as a professional career and are not planning on running the business yourself, you may have problems. Many companies/employers expect program or website developers to have a bachelor’s degree (or higher) in that field or a closely related field.
ReplyBooks can give you a good place to start, but the best way to learn is to just do it. Though really, there are literally thousands of free tutorials for web design on the internet, so I would wait on the books and just use google.
